The Best IDX WordPress Plugins for Real Estate Websites
Seven actively maintained IDX plugins for WordPress real estate sites, what each one does best and what to check before you connect your MLS.

Key points
- IDX lets an agent or broker show MLS listings on their own website. You need to be an MLS member, and your MLS has to approve the data feed.
- The plugin decides how listings look, whether search engines can index them and where leads go.
- Seven IDX plugins on WordPress.org were actively maintained in October 2026: Optima Express, IMPress for IDX Broker, Showcase IDX, Diverse Solutions IDX, Flexmls IDX, Realtyna Organic IDX + WPL and Buying Buddy.
- Choose based on your MLS, your lead workflow and how much design control you need, then test the buyer journey on a phone before you commit.
What IDX is and why it matters
IDX stands for Internet Data Exchange. It is the arrangement that lets real estate brokers display one another’s MLS listings on their own websites, under rules set by each MLS. With IDX in place, a buyer can search every listing in your market without leaving your site, and the inquiry comes to you rather than to a national portal.
To use IDX you need to be a member of the MLS, and your MLS has to approve the vendor that supplies the data. Most IDX providers handle the data connection and listing updates for you, and help you show the attribution and disclaimers your MLS requires. Your job is to choose the one that fits your market and your website.
What to look for in an IDX plugin
- MLS coverage. Confirm the vendor serves your MLS before anything else. Coverage varies by provider and region.
- Listings on your own domain. Listing pages served from your domain, rather than in a frame or on the vendor’s subdomain, can be indexed by search engines and add to your site’s visibility.
- Lead capture and CRM. Look at saved searches, listing alerts, showing requests and where leads end up, whether that is the vendor’s CRM or the one you already use.
- Design control. Search widgets and listing templates should match your brand, not look like a portal bolted onto your site.
- Mobile experience. Many buyers search on their phones. Test search, maps and listing pages on a real device.
- Updates and support. A plugin that hasn’t been updated in a year is a security and compatibility risk. Check the “Last updated” date on its WordPress.org page.
Seven IDX plugins worth considering
All seven of these plugins were listed on WordPress.org and had been updated within the previous three months when we checked in October 2026. We have left out pricing, which varies by MLS and plan.
Optima Express by iHomefinder
Optima Express is the most widely installed plugin in this guide. It adds a portal-style property search without frames, wrappers or subdomains, so listing content is indexed on your own domain. Map search, listing galleries, market reports and lead capture forms are included.
IMPress for IDX Broker
IMPress for IDX Broker connects an IDX Broker account to WordPress. It now includes the former IMPress Listings and IMPress Agents plugins, so you can show MLS listings, your own featured listings and agent profiles with widgets and shortcodes, and manage leads from inside WordPress.
Showcase IDX
Showcase IDX pairs a search experience on par with the big listing portals with lead capture tools, and it is SEO-friendly, mobile-responsive and fully integrated with WordPress. It suits agents and teams who want a polished search experience without much setup.
Diverse Solutions IDX (dsIDXpress)
Diverse Solutions IDX adds search-friendly, mobile-friendly MLS listings and property search widgets, with lead capture tools such as showing requests and saved favorites. Diverse Solutions says it offers live customer support and IDX feeds from more than 730 MLSs across the U.S. and Canada.
Flexmls IDX
If your MLS runs on Flexmls, the Flexmls IDX plugin brings that subscription into WordPress. It connects to Flexmls Portals, Contact Management and Saved Searches, so new website leads sit alongside your everyday MLS work.
Realtyna Organic IDX + WPL
Realtyna’s WPL is a full real estate listing system for WordPress, with customizable property fields and advanced search. Paired with Realtyna’s Organic IDX service, it brings MLS data into the site itself, which gives you more control over listing pages. It is the most flexible option here, and the one that benefits most from a developer’s help.
Buying Buddy
Buying Buddy has served real estate professionals since 2004 and pairs IDX search with a built-in real estate CRM. The data is hosted on Buying Buddy’s servers and the MLS feed is part of the service, so there is no separate data feed to arrange or database to manage.
How to choose
Start with your MLS. Shortlist the vendors that serve it, then compare how each one handles listing pages, lead routing and design. If your brokerage already works in Flexmls or IDX Broker, their plugins are the natural starting point. If search visibility and design control matter most, look closely at how listing pages are generated and whether they live on your domain.
Most vendors offer a demo or trial. Walk through the whole buyer journey, from search to listing to inquiry, on a phone, and check where the lead lands before you commit. IDX is one part of a strong real estate website; our guide to real estate SEO covers the rest.
Placester’s WordPress plugin, which appeared in the first version of this article, was closed in 2018 and is no longer an option.
